Meet Amanda

My name is Amanda Lee and I am a lifelong resident of Monett.

What do you like most about living in Monett?

I love the sense of community in Monett. We are a tight-knit community but not in a way that you see everyone you know every single day. You never know what you're going to run into from one day to the next but it's always awesome.

It's also great to be a part of a community that comes together often. If you have an idea or want to start a new sports league, there is always someone to support your passion.

What do you do for fun?

I do a lot of volunteering. We have an incredible community and a lot of people that like to donate their time.

I also like that there's a lot of cultural activity here providing diverse entertainment options.

My husband and I have season tickets to Hammons Hall in Springfield and enjoy catching a Broadway show. We've recently seen the Lion King, Phantom of the Opera and the Sound of Music.

First on Front is one of our favorite events in the summer. It takes place on the first Friday of the month in May, June and July at the new downtown pavilion. Bring your lawn chair and blankets, listen to live music and taste amazing local food. Kids can play in the park or on the splash pad. It's a perfect summer night.

Whatever your interests may be, it's not far.

Is Monett family-friendly?

Monett is incredibly family-friendly. The sports teams are amazing! Our basketball, baseball, soccer and wrestling teams have all won state titles. If your kid is interested in athletics, Monett is a place they will thrive.

What is the education like here?

The community is very supportive of our students' education. The preschools and school district here are remarkable. Teachers are approachable and accessible. There is a vested interest in making sure students are successful.

What outdoor recreation opportunities exist in Monett?

We have all of the activities you would expect in a big city. Monett has a wonderful park system and is surrounded by numerous lakes and places for activities like hiking and biking. There truly is something for everyone.

What are the housing options like in Monett?

There is a great amount of housing opportunity especially for young families coming from either coast. A typical home in Monett sits on a quarter acre lot. My home is on three acres. As a young professional, I was able to afford a property significantly below a quarter of a million dollars with all the features I wanted in a great school district.

What does “work-life balance” mean to you in Monett?

Work-life balance is easily achieved in Monett. And, I don't say that lightly. I'm continuously busy but with the schools being centrally located, its easy to stop by your kid's class party on your lunch hour. Everything is happening close together so it's easy to get involved without missing those special moments.

Do you have any advice for someone thinking about moving to Monett?

Monett is a very special place. It's a community that is thriving. There are amazing opportunities here. Give it a chance.
