My name is Brad Hill. I live in Monett with my wife and our two kids. We moved to Monett three years ago to open a business.
What do you love about living Monett?
I love the community aspect. I'm very focused on giving back to my community and leaving it better than I found it. If you have a heart for community and giving, it's a great place because there's a lot of opportunity to get involved. I also love the simplicity of life here. I'm grateful to be able to spend quality time with my family.
What do you and your family do for fun?
You won't get bored here. The Monett YMCA is hands down a family favorite. The pool is second to none and they continually invest in providing new activities for kids. They also offer intramural sports for adults.
My family looks forward to community events like First on Front, the Fourth of July Celebration, Christmas Parade and Easter egg hunt.
We are about 60-minutes from Joplin, Springfield and Bentonville. My family enjoys taking advantage of weekend and day trips to neighboring communities.
What outdoor recreation opportunities exist in Monett?
Nature is awesome out here! It's incredible how many parks we have access to living in Monett. I enjoy hiking and fishing, so I often go to Roaring River about 20-minutes away. It's peaceful, quiet and gets you away from the busyness of life.
Monett also has the Windmill Ridge golf course. I like to get out and play. I'm not an amazing golfer… I can lose a few balls, but it's always fun.
What job opportunities are available in Monett?
We have major and international industry presence with a high demand to fill jobs. There is an opportunity in almost every field from financial services, technology to manufacturing.
What are the housing options like in Monett?
The cost of housing is substantially less in Monett when compared to other markets. Space was an important requirement for my family when we moved here. We were able to find an acre within city limits at a very reasonable price.
What is the education like here?
Schools were an important factor in our move. We looked at both public and private options before making our decision. Monett educators are passionate about executing their purpose and are focused on more than whether kids can add and subtract. They engage students in and out of the classroom while building character and values.
Do you have any advice for someone thinking about moving to Monett?
There's a lot of focus on work-life balance in our community. Employers know that family matters, that life matters. You've got to get out and enjoy life. You'll be able to do that here.
